Tape measure olympics.

I walked in to this warehouse. It was never said but I knew I was a visitor, maybe even doing some kind of story.
There were two older guys. The said they were waiting for the judge. I asked for a demo.
There were 2 warehouse type shelving units. They were 24″ wide and 8′ deep. They made it a point of telling me. They showed me their tape measures which were ‘regulation’.
The deal was that you laid he tape down on the shelf, extended it to the end (8ft”), locked then lifted. If it did not bend, you could unlock it and raise it until it bent. If it bent you were out and that height was your ‘number’. Biggest number won!
I tried it and woke up…
